The Pleasanton Partnerships in Education Foundation (PPIE), an organization in America, was started in 1987 to raise money for local schools. (最近)，it hosted a running event for the community. To date, it has raised $1 million for the school district.
"We have (多于) 3,000 runners, volunteers and spectators, said Mindy Louie, the manager for PPIE. This year's event had races of two miles, five kilometers and (十) kilometers. The BURN Youth Development (B. Y. D. ), a (当地的) runners' group, joined
in it as well.
"The B. Y. D. was born in 2020 to help keep kids positive in life," explained Jerry Wu, its (领导者) and coach. The B. Y. D. has since grown to include more than 100 young (成员) and 30 of them ran in this year's PPIE event. "Watching them running makes me
(微笑) every time," said Jerry Wu.
So far, Jerry Wu has (教) students valuable running skills for about three years. Eighth grader Ollie Gu is one of his excellent students. He completed the race in 40 minutes and 46 seconds and (赢) first place in the 12-15 age group.
"What an (有教育意义的) race!" Ollie said. "I'm looking forward to it next year."

Every year, thousands of （游客）from around the world visit the Great Wall, and I am one of them. Here, I saw many volunteers helping the （年长的）carry heavy bags, taking photos for tourists, and （回答） people's questions. They looked tired, but they didn't take a rest. It was at that （时刻） when I suddenly saw a lost child crying （大声地）. I walked up to him and asked what happened. He told me that he couldn't find his mother. After （讨论）, we decided （联系） his mother through a phone call. 20 minutes later, the boy's mother （到达）, and she expressed her gratitude to us continuously. This made me understand the （乐趣） of helping others.
Many visitors to the UK only go to visit (著名的) buildings and shops in London. It's a (遗憾) if you don't visit some of the (自然的) wonders there.
The Caimgorms are a group of mountains in Scotland. They are popular for (步行) and climbing. In (冬天), the mountains (变成) silver because of the snow. So you can go there to ski. There are many kinds of wild (动物) too. Eagles (鹰) and deer (鹿) sometimes (出现) there.
Snowdonia is in North Wales and there is a national park of 823 square (英里). Over six (百万) tourists visit it every year.
Nowadays many people leave the countryside to search for work in the cities. But some people still live in their h (家乡). Mr. Zhang is among them. He′s lived in his village since last century. He is working in a crayon factory close to a railway station. As for a crayon m (生产者), Mr. Zhang is a truthful man and saves every cent in his life.
Last week, Mr. Zhang held a y (院子) sale. He cleared out many old things from his bedroom, such as soft toys, a scarf, a bread maker, a toy bear, a board game and many old things he o (拥有). To be honest, Mr. Zhang felt sad to p (分开) with certain old things. He r (看待) them as his favorite. He thought they could give him some sweet m (回忆), especially his childhood. So he checked them out again and again before selling.
According to him, his home is just o (在……对面) a junior high school. It′s a s (羞耻) that he couldn′t read or count because he had no money to go to school when he was young. So he is c (考虑) holding the yard sale and donating all the money to the school.
What a kind man he is!
Different people have different interests. Some like reading；some like dancing；others like growing vegetables. I（更喜欢）traveling. Because it's a very good outdoor（活动）.
Last summer, I visited Hunan with my friends. We stayed there for five days. On the first day, we all（醒来）early and then we took a bus to Zhangjiajie. About one hour later, we arrived. We climbed up to the mountains. I found I could（几乎不）use any of the words to describe them when we got to the top of the mountains. They were so magnificent. There were many kinds of strange（形状）of tall rocks. Some looked like （人） and some looked like animals. We took many photos of the beautiful sights. In the following days, we experienced the local customs and（文化）in Hunan. Besides, we met many other friends on our trip and we（形成）close friendships with them. All of us enjoyed（我们自己）. The trip really gave us a lot of （愉悦；快乐）. I will keep it in my mind forever.
In a word, traveling makes me open up my eyes and helps me learn a lot.

With the movie Wonder being on show, a boy named Auggie enters people's views. Because of his scar on his face, he has spent most of his time being home-schooled（自从） he was born. But his parents made a decision to send him to a （私人的） school as he entered middle school. There Auggie must deal with opinions from classmates and learn （接受） himself as he is.
Firstly, Auggie found it hard to be with normal kids. He（后悔） the decision he and his parents made. However, no matter how terrible things were, his parents were there with him, （尤其是） his mom. But if we give people （机会）, their hearts and minds may change in the end.
Cell phones have been increasingly (流行的) in China these days. Many college students even high school students, have cell phones. Some even can't live without them.
Chongqing Three Gorges University held an activity (命名) "Cell Phone Ninja" They would like the students not to use cell phones for 21 days. It was really a challenge for most students. But many of them wanted to face it as (勇敢地) as they could because it was so meaningful.
The activity started on ( 四月)12th Each student who took part in it got a bracelet. Whether the students used cell phones or not, there would be a photo on the (屏幕) of the bracelet. After the last class of each day, the students sent the photos to the school's (公众)WeChat.
According to the teachers in the university, the students who (完成) the task successfully would get a present. In fact, the activity was not a competition (在……中间) students. It depended on students themselves to make the (决定) . The teacher hoped that this activity could not only help students from better study habits but also become one of (他们的) most unforgettable experiences.
Tina Wang and her family live in the largest Chinese community in Canada. Her parents (搬家) here two years ago. She didn't like the new living (环境) until she met Mr James, a nice language teacher in her school. Mr James has been teaching for 20 years, and he was very (幽默的). He had many excellent students. "No problem!" Tina's face brightened with a big smile.
Many years have passed, but Tina can't help (想起) of that day when Mr James helped her out in the awkward situation.
Last week my brother and I took a trip to visit friends and go skiing. During my time as a (士兵), I had flown over these huge mountains many times. However, I never visited them at ground level until last week.
The first day we went skiing, we drove into the mountains and soon followed the (小溪）along the sides of mountains to the ski places. There we (停放) our car. I put on my skis and went ahead to the lift.
As I rode the lift even high up the mountain, I watched the people (在下面) move along the snow. At the top of the lift everything was so (惊人的). I (逗留）on the mountain top for half an hour, which was circled by more snow-covered mountains-it seemed that I had moved into a postcard. I took a moment to reflect on the (大自然的) beauty around me. It was (实在, 的确) valuable, not strong, and easily broken!
Now, I'm back home thinking about the things which I experienced in person on that mountain top. I (意识到) how important the environment protecting is! If not, the same beauty will probably be (消失的) some day. So it's necessary to take steps together to make our future much better.
