It is Linda's first day at her new school. She doesn't like it at all.
Everyone is in groups. They eat lunch together. They play on teams.
"Army old school. if you don't want to take a writing test, you can do jumping jacks."She does three jumping jacks to show Hannah.
"That's silly（傻的）."Hannah says.
"At my old school, I am better than everyone. I am the best in everything," Linda says.
"If you are the best in everything, why do you come here?" Hannah asks.
"At my old school."Linda says. "I don't have any friends." She turns around so Hannah won't see her tears（眼泪）. She knows Hannah will ignore（忽视） her too.
I know you don't want to be my friend. Just like at my old school."
"I never say I don't want to be your friend. I just don't want you to…"Hannah says.
"Stretch the truth?"Linda says.
Hannah nods（点头）, "You should tell the truth."
"Well, I will," Linda says. "Want to know what we really do at my old school? Every Friday we have a volleyball match. The winner can take the hamster home for the weekend."
"That sounds fun,"says Hannah. "Let's tell Mrs Andrews about it."Linda smiles.

Hemingway was born on July 21, 1899. He was the second child in a family of six. His father was a doctor. Hemingway learned about nature, hunting, and fishing from his father when he was a child. He went to school a year younger than usual, so he had to work hard to catch up with others. In high school, he studied harder and always got the best grades. A fter leaving high school, he went to work as a reporter. During World War I, Hemingway found a job as an ambulance（ 救护车）driver.In1919,he got back home.Later that year, he started to be a writer. Then in September 1920, Hemingway moved to Chicago to live with his friends. There he worked as an editor（编辑）.
Hemingway wrote most of his works between the mid-1920s and the mid-1950s. He wrote a short novel（小说） named The Old Man and the Sea in 1951. In 1953, he won the Pulitzer Prize for the short novel. The novel also brought Hemingway the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954.
Hemingway's language is simple, but it is rich and powerful. In the nearly sixty-two years of his life, he played an important part in literature.
When they go home,Rat rows the boat.Mole watches Rat.
He says, "Rat! Please, I want to row, now!"

Mole is so happy that he doesn't know w to say. When they went home. Rat makes a fire. Then he tells Mole the stories about the r. After dinner, Mole is tired, Mole's little bed Is next to the window. He lies in bed and listens to the river o, He can hear the wind in the willows and enjoy the p and quiet there. Mole stays with Rat for the summer. He learns t o row. And he learns to love water.
