When there is a fire, we call 119. 119 are three important numbers to us. November 9th is Chinese Fire Prevention (防止) Day. November is in autumn. The weather is dry and windy. It's very easy to start a fire. That's why we have Chinese Fire Prevention Day on that day. Also it's easy for people to remember because we have 119 as fire emergency number (火警电话).
In 2019, there are more than 42 big fire accidents (火灾) in our country. More than 1335 people die in the fire. Some fire accidents are caused (引起) by children at home. They play with matches and start a fire. Some fire accidents are in the restaurants. The cooks are not careful with gas (煤气) and cause a fire. Some fire accidents are in the forests. Farmers burn their crops and do not stop the fire. The fire burn all the trees and plants. The air gets full of smoke. The water becomes black. People get sick and die.
Fire is important and dangerous. Remember Chinese Fire Prevention Day and call 119 when you see a fire. Always be careful with fires and keep yourself safe.
Summer holiday is coming. Teachers in Happy Primary School do a survey on students' summer favourites. They ask the students their favourite summer treats (夏季美食), sports ways to spend (花费) time and ice cream flavours (口味). Here are the results of the survey.
The sun rises in the morning. The shadow is long. And in the evening, the sun goes down. The shadow is long, too. At noon, the sun is high in the sky. The shadow is short. If it is cloudy or rainy, we can't see our shadows. At night, if there is light, we can see our shadows, too. You go, the shadow goes. You run, the shadow runs. But you speak, the shadow can't speak. We can't hear the shadow. We only see the shadow. Some little children don't know what the shadow is. They go, the shadows go. They are very afraid. In fact, the shadows are ourselves.
