Although it was autumn, the snow was already beginning to fall in Tibet (西藏). Our legs were so heavy and cold that 1 felt like big pieces of ice. Have you 2 seen snowmen ride bicycles? That's what we looked like! Along the way children who were 3 long wool coats stopped to look at us. In the late4 we found it was so cold that our water bottles froze (结冰).However, the lakes 5 like glass in the setting sun and looked wonderful.
Wang Wei rode in front of me as usual. She was in high spirit and I knew I didn't need to
6 her. To climb the mountains was hard work but as we7 us, we were surprised by the view. We seemed to be able to see for miles, and we were so high that we found ourselves cycling through clouds. After a while, we began going 8 the mountains. It was great fun especially as it slowly became much 9. At the foot of the mountains, colourful butterflies flew around us and we saw many sheep eating green grass. Then we had to 10 our caps, gloves and trousers for T-shirts and shorts.
In the early evening we stopped to make camps. We 11 our tent(帐篷)and then we ate. After supper Wang Wei went to sleep but I stayed 12. 13 midnight the sky became clearer and the stars grew brighter. As I 14 below the stars I thought about how far we had already travelled.
We will reach Dali in Yunan Province soon, where our cousins will join us. We 15 hardly wait to see them!
According to a new survey, students' safety has become a big problem. Nearly 50% of students say they are worried about robbery on the way to and from school. Now in main big cities in China, some schools have taught an unusual lesson: self-protection. Students like this lesson because there are no exams or boring classes. And they can learn how to save lives and know how to stop danger before it really happens.
Chen Haoyu, a teacher at Beijing No. 25 Middle School, gives young students advice on how to deal with danger.
★If you are robbed
Keep calm. lf you can not cry for help or run away. Give the robber your money. Try to remember what the robber looks like and tell the police later.
★If you are in a traffic accident
If a car hits you. You should remember the car number. If it is a bicycle, try to call your parents before you let the rider go. This is because you don't know how seriously you are hurt
★If it is raining hard and there is lighting
Don't stay in high places and stay away from trees.
★When there is a fire
Get away as fast as yon can. Put wet things on your body and try to find an exit. Do not take the lift.
★If someone is drowning
If you can't swim, don't get into the water. Cry out for help.
Remember that danger is never as far away as you think. Take care of yourself at all time!
①Because there are no tests.
②Because the lessons are boring
③Because they can learn how to save lives.
④Because they can know how to stop danger before it happens.
Everyone worries. But how do you deal with your worries? Whether your worries are big or small, you can take these three steps to deal with your worries:
Try to find out what you're worried about.
Sometimes, you will know what you're worried about. Other times, you might not. Try to find it out first. If you can't, you can ask for help.
Think of ways to make it better
There is always something you can do to help you feel less worried. Sitting there worrying is no fun and it won't solve your problem.
Grades at school are often a top worry for kids. If you're worried about grades, ask yourself these questions:
☆Why are grades important? What do grades mean to me?
☆How do I get ready for class? Do I go over (复习) my notes even when there isn't a test?
☆Do I have a good place to do my homework?
☆Have I tried different ways of studying?
Ask for help
When you're worried, it can help to find someone to talk to. You can ask your parents, friends, or teachers for help.
What is your favorite color? Ask famous persons like Cate Blanchett, Scarlett Johnson, and Bono (singer for the band U2), and maybe they will say “green.” That's not because these artists like the color green best. Instead, they are interested in green fashion.
Green fashion is about making (and wearing) clothes that are good for humans, animals, and the Earth. In the past, green fashion made people think of ugly clothes. But today, green fashion is different. It is about looking good and caring about the Earth and other people. You can have interesting clothes and be green.
Around the world, green fashion is becoming popular. For example, the U.K. company People Tree sells men's and women's clothing and accessories(配搭物). They are made from natural fabrics(织物) like cotton and wool. Workers who make the clothes are from countries like Kenya(肯尼亚), and Bangladesh(孟加拉国). People Tree pays the men and women good money for the clothes they make.
Singer Bono and his wife also started a clothing company called EDUN. When the clothes are sold, EDUN uses most of the money to help people around the world.

I worked in a shop three years ago. A girl started working there a few months after me. I met her often but we never t. We just saw each o and smiled.
She would always smile in a really happy way until one day when we got to work in the same department again. She smiled as if she was the h girl in the world. I went up to her and asked, “What's w with you?” She answered, “Why?” I said, “I can feel you're very sad but you're always t to hide it.” Her mouth just dropped as if I had discovered her deepest s, so we started talking. She told me why she was feeling like that and why she was trying to hide it. Time w by and we became good friends. Later she said that I had changed her life in many w. Today this girl is one of my best friends. She has been there for me in every possible way a friend could be.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that you never know when you're helping y. I helped this girl never knowing that at the same time I was helping myself by finding a t friend.

I have a 42-year-old father. He is not tall but kind. But he has a bad habit — smoking. He smokes so m that I can't describe him with words. He is really a true smoker.
One day, I said to my father, “It's bad for your health to s too much. You must give up smoking.” Then I showed him some books in which there are some articles about s smoking. I watched my father's face, with smiling eyes. But it seemed n would happen. He just said, “My son, you are the best boy. But it is impossible for me to stop smoking.” With these w, he took out another cigarette from his pocket and started it with his match. It made me a little a. My mother and I made some rules that he mustn't smoke in the rooms. But it was no use. He smoked o. How disappointed we were!
Last year I came to study in a middle school in the center of the city and lived here. I n more money. One day, my father came to see me, with lots of food and money. H this time I didn't see him smoke here. My mother said, “Your father wants you to learn more knowledge and eat better. He has g up smoking.” When I heard my mother's words, I was very happy with tears on my face.
This is my great father, the best father in the world.
Weddings are important in every country, and there are different wedding customs in different countries. In western countries the bride's (新娘的) dress—her wedding dress—is very important. Some brides wear a new dress. Some brides wear the dress their mothers or even their grandmothers wore at their weddings.
Some people believe the bride should wear something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. She may wear an old ring and will usually have new shoes. She may borrow something to wear from a friend, and the ring on her finger may have a blue jewel in it or some of her clothes may be blue.
Many married people in western countries wear a ring to show that they are married. They wear the ring on the fourth finger of their left hands.
At the wedding, as soon as the man and the woman are married, their friends often throw rice or very small pieces of paper over the couple. They believe this will bring them good luck and that they will have many children. The bride often carries flowers, and after the wedding she throws them up in the air. People believe that the woman who catches the flowers is lucky enough. The bride and the groom (新郎), their friends and family then have a party. After that the bride and the groom go on holiday together. This holiday is called "the honeymoon".
