Two days ago China held the G20 Leaders Summit (峰会) in Hangzhou. Leaders of the G20 members not only talked about the world issues, but also had a taste of Chinese culture.
The logo of the summit shows Chinese architectural (建筑) culture. The logo looks like a bridge. “I got the idea from the old arched bridges (拱桥) at the West Lake,” said the designer Yuan Youmin. “Bridge link (连接) people and places in many different ways, just as the G20 brings east and west together.”

I guess most of you have had an experience like it: it's the weekend, but instead of having a good rest, you have to bury yourself in the endless homework you have left over from the week. This was my routine too. But it came to an end during my school's “No Homework Weekend”.
The activity was announced two weeks in advance so we could get prepared. Students in my class did not have any homework on the special weekend, but students in other classes were not so lucky. There were also some teachers who told their students: “You don't have homework this weekend, but you do have a test next Monday.” This meant: “You don't have to prepare for the test during the weekend, but good luck if you don't!” Well, teachers will be teachers, I suppose.
I really made the most of those two days without homework. On Friday night, I stayed up chatting with my friends online because we didn't need to worry about homework. On Saturday, I watched a band concert, and on Sunday I had a god sleep and organized my notes. Normally I have so much regular homework that I do not have time to review and organize class notes. But on that weekend, I finally had time to do it.
No Homework Weekend was really a great time to release stress and take a look at what we had learned so far. I loved it and I hope my school holds more weekends like it in the future!
Since ancient times, human beings have looked up at the night sky. Comets (彗星) and meteors (流星) flying through the blackness were seen as signs from the gods. They were used to tell the future of human lives.
In 2013, a meteorite shower hit an area in Russia. It injured around 1,200 people. In ancient times, this would have been a strange and terrible experience. Today, thought, science offers simple explanations for the occurrence (事件).
Meteorites are small pieces of debris (碎片) that float around in space. Sometimes, they come near a planet, such as Earth. When they enter our atmosphere, they often heat up and become very bright. This is why they are sometimes called “fireballs”. They are usually made of metals, such as iron (铁), and other minerals (矿物). The Russian meteorites were stony, with iron making up 10 percent of them.
Meteorite showers, such as that in Russia, happen when a large meteor enters the Earth's atmosphere and, due to heat, breaks up into small parts. Most of these are very small — smaller than a grain of sand — and so don't even make it to the ground. But others can cause a lot of damage.
The meteor in Russia weighed 10 tons when it entered our atmosphere, and broke up about 20-30 miles (30-50 km) above ground. The sky was filled with bright lights and loud noises. Many windows were broken. The damage cost Russia around 206 million yuan.
① meteorite showers happen ② it breaks up into small pieces
③ it falls to the ground as whole ④ it seldom causes serious damage

Although writing something using a computer is faster, it is much better to remember the whole thing by writing it down by hand. When you read a handwritten text, naturally it's easier for your brains to remember the information.
Spare more time for yourself
By sparing the time for yourself and just being alone for a while, you can have a chance to think and get to know yourself better. And you won't behave impulsively (易冲动地).
Drink hot drinks on a hot day
What cools more on a hot summer morning, cold water or hot water? A study shows that the hot water does make people feel cooler. When you are drinking something hot, the body will feel the change in temperature and increase the perspiration (流汗), which helps you cool down!
