Little Amy, a six-year-old kid, arrived home when her parents were talking about her little brother. All she knew was that he was very sick and they had no money left. When she heard her daddy say to her1mother with whispered desperation, ＂2a miracle can save him now＂, the little girl went to her bedroom and took out her piggy bank. She3all the change out and counted it carefully. Then she 4her way six blocks to the drugstore.
＂What do you want?＂ asked the chemist. ＂It's5my little brother,＂ the girl answered. ＂He's really, really sick and I want to buy a6. His name is Andrew and he has something7growing inside his head and my daddy says only a miracle can save him.＂ ＂We don't8miracles here, child. I'm sorry,＂ the chemist said, smiling 9at the little girl.
In the shop was a 10customer. He stooped(弯腰) down and asked the little girl, ＂What kind of miracle does your brother 11?＂ ＂I don't know,＂ she replied. ＂He's really sick and mommy says he needs12. But my daddy can't pay for it, so I have brought my13.＂
＂How much do you have?＂ asked the man. ＂One dollar and eleven cents, 14I can try and get some more,＂ she answered quietly. ＂Well, what a coincidence,＂ smiled the man. ＂A dollar and eleven cents — the 15price of a miracle for your little brother. 16me to where you live. I want to see your brother and 17your parents.＂
That well-dressed man was Dr Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon(外科医生). The operation was completed without 18and it wasn't long before Andrew was 19again and doing well.
The little girl was happy. She knew exactly how much the miracle cost ... one dollar and eleven cents ... plus the 20of a little child.
In Britain, many theatres put on shows for children at Christmas and many theatres have a theatreineducation team working there. This team, made up of actors and teachers, writes plays for children, usually performing them in schools. They do different plays for different age groups and the children often take part in the play in some way.
Pantomime is a special kind of Christmas show for children. It is loved by people and also allows the audience (观众) to join in.＂Pantomime＂ was the name of the Roman actor who performed shows without speaking — this is where the English word ＂mime＂ comes from.
A pantomime is always based on a wellknown children's story. But there are always certain types of characters in the show and certain situations and events. For example, a pantomime must always include a hero, known as the ＂principal boy＂ and this principal boy is always played by a pretty girl wearing a short costume (服装). Then there is the comic older woman, known as the ＂dame＂ who is played by a man. There is always a group of men and women who sing and dance and often there is a pantomime horse. The horse is played by two men who form the ＂front＂ and ＂back＂ ends inside a ＂horse＂ costume. It is funny and it usually kicks the dame when she isn't looking.
Members of the audience have to shout a warning to one of the characters and argue (争论) with the character (usually the dame) when she does not believe them. When she shouts, ＂Oh no, it isn't, ＂ the audience always responds with ＂Oh yes, it is!＂ The audience also learns and sings a simple song and a few children are sometimes invited to help one of the characters during the show.
In the latest romance-drama, Descendants of the Sun (《太阳的后裔》), a handsome soldier Yoo Shi-jin(柳时镇) (Song Joong-ki)(宋仲基) meets the pretty doctor Kang Mo-yeon(姜暮烟) (Song Hye-kyo)(宋慧乔) in a hospital, and he doesn't hesitate to hit on her.
The dialogue, which takes place early in the first episode(集), immediately indicates that this is no ordinary South Korean drama. There's no family feud (不睦), or love tangles, or guesses and misunderstandings. The 16-episode show is set in the fictional war-torn country of Uruk(乌鲁克). Song Joong-ki is the leader of a special warfare command unit, while Song Hye-kyo plays a doctor who works for a humanitarian medical organization. Both are sent in the midst of disaster and disease as part of their work with UN peacekeeping troops. Both know and show clearly what they want and what they hate.
But what stands out the most are Song's skills as a pick-up artist(撩妹技能).
Boldness and creativity are the key weapons in his arsenal. When Kang invites Yoo to drink wine with her, Yoo, who is not allowed to drink alcohol as a soldier, says, ＂There is a way.＂ before kissing her. Forget about the ＂eighth-episode rule＂ . This kiss happens in the fourth.
Humor also does the trick. On their first date in a cinema, Yoo says, ＂This is the most exciting moment of my life. The moment I am with a beautiful woman before the theater lights go out.＂ When Kang tries to give Yoo a hard time, Yoo jokes, ＂I mistook you for a beautiful woman because it's dark.＂
And actor Song Joong-ki, who just came back from two years of military service last May, makes sure he delivers his pick-up lines just right.
＂In Deep Rooted Tree (《树大根深》) and The Innocent Man (《善良的男人》), he [Song Joong-ki] showed he had the steel to play fearless and heartless men — that he could be taken seriously as an actor, despite his pretty face. In Descendants, he hits the emotional core of every scene, whether he has to be bold and amorous, guarded and mysterious, or sad,＂said critic Foong Woei Wan in The Straits Times.

Writing A Letter To Your Future Self
Just imagine writing a letter to your future self 5 years from now, then opening it at that exact moment to see how much of it has come true.
As you read the letter in the future, you can assess how many things agree with your expectations in the past. Often times, the goals we set and our goal achievement process are affected by a lot of changes along the way. The letter lets you recognize how your current idea differs from the past.
In addition to that, at the very moment you are writing the letter, your thoughts are stored right there in those words. When you open the letter in the future, you as your future self gets to compare how you used to be in the past with how you are now. It's very interesting to do so.
Take out a pen and paper right now and start writing your letter to your future self. Set a time period to write to. Then start writing. Think about the type of person you will be, your place in life, what you will have realized then, and so on.
Put it in a safe space where no one can find it. When you open this sometime in the near future, you might gain additional insights(了解) about yourself and your journey in the past few years.

For some time, I had been thinking that I wanted to do something to make strangers smile. I decided that I (leave) small notes around shops and other public places with positive sayings or kind words for strangers (find).
A friend on Facebook posted that she had received a lot of beautiful paper from an artist friend and was wondering what to do with it. I told her about my idea, and she (immediate) said that this must be what her paper was meant for.
So two friends on opposite (side) of the world started leaving these random notes of kindness. I leave my notes without (expect) any particular result. It doesn't matter whether they are readthrown away. The main thing is that I did this act.
I now carry around a notebook in I write down lovely and inspiring phrases that I find. And I buy packs of Post its to write notes on whenever I see opportunity to make a stranger smile. I only leave the notes when I am feeling in a (happily) mood, as I don't want to pass any negative energy on to someone else.
I sign them all (say) that this note is left for you by a stranger to make you smile. Then, I add a heart.
