Do you know a little boy named Ryan Wang? If not, let me introduce him to you. Ryan Wang is from Vancouver, Canada. He made a1for himself with his fantastic music talent. On The Ellen Show, his2skills made everyone surprised. And then the talented and cute boy3became very popular and famous. People started to4him piano genius (天才). The small pianist gave a performance at the famous Carnegie Hall in March, 2013. He was only five years old then. When Ellen asked how he5playing at Carnegie Hall, he said, “I just love it, because I love to perform in front of many people.”
It's hard to believe that Wang learned the piano6only 18 months. Wang's mother said, “I was thinking he was7young to play the piano. He cannot even8the notes (音符). But he liked it. To my9, every time he practiced playing the piano, he almost forgot10and put his heart into it. In a short time, he remembered music pieces and played the piano very well.”
Everyone has something different from others. Maybe you're also Ryan Wang if you are hard-working enough and put your heart into it.

“Mum, may Patti come over?” asked Meg.
“Not until you clean your room,” replied Mum.
Meg said on the phone unhappily, “I have to clean my room first.”
At the other end, Patti laughed. She said to Meg, “That's funny. My mum just said I can't go anywhere until I clean my room.”
After hanging up (挂断电话), the girls went to their own rooms. Each girl looked around at her mess. Slowly they started cleaning their rooms.
Meg said to herself, “Maybe we could talk on the phone while we work. It would be hard to work and talk at the same time, though.”
Patti thought, “Until I clean my room, I can't leave. Meg may leave, but she can't have anyone over.” Then Patti asked her mum, “Mum, may Meg come?” “Sure,” said Patti's mum. “Remember, you must have your room cleaned before leaving the house.”
Patti ran to the phone and called Meg. “I've got an idea!” she told Meg.
A few minutes later, Meg went over to Patti's house. Her mum allowed her to go because she promised to clean her room when she returned.
While dancing, singing and talking, the girls worked. One hour later, the room became clean. It was fun! The room looked great. Patti's mum was happy. She called Meg's mum and told her everything. Meg's mum said Patti could come to help Meg.
The girls quickly went to Meg's house. They worked and played until the room was clean. The girls learned that working together could make cleaning fun and easy!

Patty hated vegetables. When she saw the salad on the table, she pushed her plate away.
“Patty!” Her father called her name. He liked his dinner, and he hated bad table manners.
“Where are my hamburgers? Why can't I have potato chips for once?” asked Patty.
“We had hamburgers and chips last weekend. During this week we need to eat healthy food,” Mother explained.
“How about some soda (汽水), then?” asked Patty. “I hate milk.”
“Patty!” Father called her name again and looked at her seriously.
Patty knew her father was angry. She tried to eat some but spat (吐) it back on the plate.
“Patty! Room! Now!” Father shouted at her.
Patty ran to her bedroom, and threw herself on the bed. She cried for a few minutes, but then she had a plan. Her parents would feel sad and give her some food she actually liked if she didn't eat anything for days.
She smiled to herself, imagining her parents feeding her ice-cream.
Mum tried to get her to eat later that evening, but she refused. Patty didn't eat breakfast the next day either. When lunch came around, she was hungry, but she didn't eat anything. They didn't offer her anything special when she didn't eat. That surprised her.
By the time dinner came around, she could hardly move. She felt very weak. Suddenly, vegetables didn't look so bad. They didn't taste so bad either. Patty had many vegetables that night. She went to bed with a full stomach. She still wanted junk food, but she could wait until the weekend.

Dear Mum,
You think you know a lot of things about me, but you don't. You try to tell me how to dress, but you don't realize that it should be my decision.
I don't think that you have any respect (尊重) for me, because you come into my room, touch anything you want, and don't even put things back in their place. Could you please change a little?
Sincerely,
Your son John
Dear Mum,
My life is different from yours because we grew up in different times. I have to go out into the world and experience it myself! But don't worry about me, because I come from a happy family. I'm still your little girl, but I'll be an adult some day. I want to be the best and strongest me. You taught me about it. Thanks Mum!
Sincerely,
Your daughter Helen
Dear Mum and Dad,
I'm writing you this letter because I need to tell you both something. I want to continue my education at a college in our city. I want to go to school part-time and work part-time.
Now I'm 17 years old. I need to make decisions on my own. I need a goal and a plan for my future. You've taught me to be strong and do what I believe in. I want to say thanks for everything you did for me.
Love,
Your son Mike
Service on the 102-km high-speed railway between Shenzhen and Guangzhou started on December 26, 2011. A non-stop trip between the Guangzhou South Station and the Shenzhen North Station takes 35 minutes at full speed.
The train runs at the highest speed of 300 km per hour. All 36 pairs of trains run every day. A one-way first-class ticket costs 100 yuan. A second-class one costs 75 yuan, 5 yuan cheaper than a second-class ticket on the slower line.
A high-speed train has 556 seats, including 16 seats in the VIP rooms and 50 in the first-class carriage (车厢). It offers more advanced facilities (先进的设施). For example, the seats are more comfortable, there are toilets for the disabled (残疾人), and there are power outlets (电源插座) in the first-class carriage.
The high-speed service between Guangzhou and Shenzhen will be a convenient choice for many people. “I won't need to travel to the Guangzhou East Station to take a train to Shenzhen,” said Wang Yi, who lives in Panyu district in Guangzhou.
Many people still prefer the slower trains, because the terminals (终点站) of the high-speed trains are far away from the centres of both cities. “I would not like to take a high-speed train to Shenzhen. I live in the centre of Guangzhou. First I have to get to the Guangzhou South Station. It is a waste of time for me,” said Zhang Lu.
