    Some famous big cities got interesting nicknames（昵称）for some reasons. Here are three of them.

New York：The Big Apple New York got the nickname because it is a city full of chances. It is said New York's musicians began to use it in the 1920s. There is an old saying in show business，"There are many apples on the tree，but only one big apple. When you chose New York，you picked the big one. ”

Paris：The City of Light Paris has the name because there are so many lights in streets at night. However, there was a time when Paris had almost no lights. In 1828，Pairs began to build a network of street lights. It was the first city in Europe to do so，and it has the nickname "The City of Light".
