Do you know how to train (训练)dogs? Some schools in the US are giving students a chance to learn how to do so. At Hutton High School in New York, there is a guide dog training program. It started two years ago. Students train dogs to help blind people. Many other schools have similar programs.

In this program, students first work as dog sitters (临时看狗的人). They get training and go to meetings to learn how to take care of dogs. After a while, they can get a dog of their own. Then, they start to train them in different places. They can keep the dogs for one year.

Lisa Harris, 15, joined the program about a year ago. She has her own guide dog. She spends a lot of time with the dog at school. She trains the dog to ignore (忽略)things while walking, like food and people. When she's in class, the dog sits or lies between her feet.
