My friend's grandfather is tall. He was from a (农场) in (欧洲). He came to America last (周末). After he arrived in New York, he went into a restaurant to get something (可口的,美味的) to eat. He sat down at the table and waited for (某人) to take his order. Of course no one did. At last, a woman with two big bowls of food came up to him. She stood in (前面的) of him and told him how the restaurant works.
"Start at one end," she said." Just go along the way and get what you want. At the other end they will tell you how much your food is. And the drink is (免费的). But remember, don't go (外出) with the food."
"I soon learned that's how everything works in America." the grandfather told my friend later." Life is like the restaurant here. You can get anything you want if you want to (付费) the price. But you will get (没有什么,没有一件东西) if you wait for others to bring to you. You have to get up and get it yourself."
