I can still remember the first time Father bought me pomegranates(石榴). After I had a long look at the fruit, I 1, "Why did you buy such ugly fruit? Why not buy apples? Pomegranates do not 2 as nice as apples."
When Father heard my words, he said nothing. He 3 smiled. He told me that I would find out why he did so later.
When we got home, he took me into the kitchen and cut open one of the pomegranates 4 a knife. "Now I will 5 you its real face!" he said.
"Wow!" I cried. What was inside the fruit was completely 6 from its outside. The pomegranate had small "rooms" inside it. Each "room"7lots of seeds. And each seed looked like a beautiful, shiny ruby (红宝石).
"Do you think it is beautiful?" Father asked. "That shows you can never judge(评判) something simply by its outside. You must always look at its 8, too."
I suddenly realized that Father's words were not only about fruit,9 also about some people like pomegranates that are not very beautiful. But they can still have beautiful 10.
Now, when I go to the supermarket, I always buy some pomegranates to share with my friends and family.
