The following is a public service announcement from the City of Los Angeles.<br />Did you know that an average American throws away 7 pounds of garbage each day?<br />Did you know that sea levels have risen more in the last century than in the last 2,000 years?<br />The fact is, our Earth is warming at an alarming rate.<br />Here are some helpful tips for you and your family to help protect our environment.<br />Reduce. Use cloth bags for your groceries instead of plastic.<br />It reduces the amount of waste that ends up in our garbage dumps and oceans.<br />Using less electricity also greatly helps to reduce air pollution.<br />Reuse. When we reuse, we are also reducing pollution, because burning garbage gives off harmful gases into the atmosphere.<br />It is said that about 60 million plastic bottles are thrown away each day in America.<br />So just by switching to a reusable glass water bottle, you are making a difference.<br />Recycle.
