Festivals and celebrations come in different (kind) around the world. They are held for different reasons, some religious, some (season), and some for special people or events. The ancient festivals were mainly held to pray for plenty of food for survival. Festivals of the Dead are held (honor) the dead or to satisfy the ancestors, for we hold the (believe) that they might return either to help or to harm. Some festivals are held to honor famous people such Dragon Boat Festival and Columbus Day. Harvest and Thanksgiving festivals, to which Mid- autumn festival belongs, are a time our food is gathered for the winter and when a season of agricultural work is . And the most energetic and important festivals are the ones that look forward to the end of winter and to the （come) of spring. The Chinese spring festival, western carnivals and Japan's Cherry Blossom Festival, all signal a (renew) of life. People love to celebrate because they let us enjoy life, be proud of our customs and forget our work for little while.
