Hello, students. I'm so proud to be speaking to the graduating class of the University
of California, Los Angeles, today. I hope you can learn something from my story. I came
to the United States with my parents when I was 10 years old. My father had family in
California, so we moved here to live with them. I didn't know any English and school
was hard for me. I didn't have any friends either. My father was a doctor in China, but
he had to work at a fish market once we got to San Francisco. I decided that I would be
a doctor one day and make him proud. It was pretty hard. I stayed after school every day
to get help from my teacher. And I made many American friends who helped me with my English.
After many years of hard work and studying, I went to college in New York City and then
one of the best medical schools in Boston. Now I am a doctor and my father is very proud
of me. My story shows you can make your dreams come true if you work hard and find good people
to help you. Hello, students.
