Qi Baishi was one of most well-known Chinese painters. The subjects of his paintings include almost everything, such as (animal), scenery, figures, vegetables, and so on. Many of his works describe mice, shrimps (虾), or birds. Qi Baishi was (particular) known for painting shrimps.
Born to a farmer family in Xiangtan, Hunan Province, Qi Baishi became a carpenter (木匠) at fourteen, and it was largely through his own efforts that he became skilled at the arts of poetry and painting. In his (forty), Qi Baishi began traveling and looking more inspiration. He came upon the Shanghai School, was very popular at the time, and met Wu Changshuo who then became another teacher to him and inspired a lot of his works. Another influence of Qi Baishi (come) about fifteen years later, as Qi Baishi became close to Chen Shizeng after he settled down in Beijing.
Qi Baishi considered that "paintings must be something between likeness and unlikeness. " His (wonder) output reflected all of interests, generally focusing on the smaller things of the world rather than the large landscape. Shrimps, fish, frogs, insects, and peaches were his favorite subjects. (use) heavy ink and bright colors, he created works in a fresh and lively manner that leaves the audience guessing and makes them use their (imagine).
