Friends sometimes tell lies(说谎). A friends lies he wants to protect your feelings. He might lie about how you look, or how you behave(表现). He knows that telling the truth may make you sad or，so he choose not to tell you the truth. You must be understanding about this. However, it is never a good  to lie.
