"Tom," says his father, "put on your cap and let's go for a walk." Tom is very happy. He likes to go out with his father. He puts on his cap and coat and says, "Dad, I am ready. Let's go." Then Tom and his father go out.
Now they are on the street. Suddenly they see a big black dog. It begins to bark(吠叫)at them. Tom is afraid of the dog. He runs home. His father says, "Don't be afraid, Tom. Don't you know the proverb(谚语)barking dogs do not bite?"
Tom answers, '"T know, but does the dog know this proverb, too?"
