Xian Xinghai is a very famous musician in China. He wrote one of the greatest pieces of music of the(twenty) century. In his lifetime he wrote 300 songs and an operatotal. Xian was born in Macao, China in 1905.Because his father died before he was born. Xian moved from place to place with his mother. He began learning to play the violin when he was 20 years old. In the beginning, his violin was so cheap and(bad) made that he could not play it well. Xian did not stop practicing and soon showed his talent. In 1934he was one of the first Chinese students studied in a special music school in Paris. Before he left, Xian became the school's best student and won several prizes for his talents.
In 1935, he returned to China and helped fight against the Japanese army. Later, he came to Yan'an to teach music at a college. Xian wrote some of his most important music there, His most famous work the Yellow River was written there. Usually it (perform) at some important national concerts nowadays. It is praised as a piece of (history) music that encourages the Chinese people to stick to(fight) against Japan bravely.
In May 1940, Xian was sent to the Soviet Union（苏联）, life was very hard there. Xian got sick and later died of a lung（肺）illness on October30, 1945.It is pity that Xian died at the age of 40.The Chinese people were in deep(sad) and pain because of his death. His music lives on in the (people) hearts. He is regarded as a musician of the Chinese people's.
