Long long ago, there was a thief(小偷). He wanted to steal (偷) the bell on his 1door, so he walked to the door, took hold of(抓住) the bell and pulled hard. The bell made a very big noise. The thief was afraid and went home2. Then he had an idea. "Ah, I'll put some cotton(棉花) in my ears. Then I won't hear the noise. "
The next day, he went to the door and took hold of the bell. This time, he pulled very hard. The bell rang loudly, but the thief did not hear3. So he pulled it4and got the bell out. Just then the neighbour came. "Steal my bell? I'll teach you a lesson," the 5 man shouted. And he hit(打)the thief on the nose.
The thief thought, "Why did he come out just then?"
