Scoring a goal is always worth celebrating. The Chinese striker (前锋)Wu Lei, scored his first goal on March 2nd in La Liga (西甲). It touched off (引发)wild celebrations among Chinese fans - some of them even cried with joy.
Wu, now a member of the Spanish club Espanyol, is the first Chinese player to score in the top European league. "I'm so excited! Several months ago, I was scoring in the Chinese Super League, but now I've scored in La Liga. It's like a dream for me," Wu said after scoring.
Wu is a rookie (新手)in the club, as he joined it at the end of January. But in just his fifth appearance on the field, he scored his first goal. Espanyol coach Rubi said Wu is like "a floating feather (飘着的羽毛)with great flexibility (灵活性)and speed.
Wu was quite strict with himself during training. He got slightly hurt when he first joined the team, but still wanted to start training right away. He also told his coach that he didn't want to be treated any differently simply because he was Chinese.
To better fit into the team, Wu is learning Spanish. He practices talking with his teammates every day. He has learned so much that he no longer needs an interpreter (口译员).His positive attitude has helped him win the trust of his teammates. Of course, Wu's first goal is just the beginning. Chinese fans are eager (渴望的)to see what he'll do in the future.
