Mr. Green was driving his car to visit a friend in another city. On the way, he got into an accident and his car ran into a small pool. Mr. Green tried to pull (拉) the car out of the pool, but, he couldn't. He didn't know what to do. Luckily, a farmer happened to ride on a strong horse to come over. He called the horse Buddy.
The farmer took Buddy up to the car and shouted out, "Pull, Nellie, pull!" Buddy didn't move at all.
Then the farmer shouted again, "Pull, Buster, pull!" Buddy still didn't move.
Once more, the farmer cried out, "Pull, Coco, pull!" But the horse wouldn't move.
Then the farmer quietly said, "Pull, Buddy, pull!" After hearing his name, the horse tried his best and easily pulled the car out of the pool.
Mr. Smith thanked a lot and felt curious (好奇的). He asked the farmer why he called his horse by the wrong name many times.
The farmer said, "Oh, Buddy is blind. If he thought that he was the only one pulling, he wouldn't even try!"
