Little Robert was a very clever boy. All the people around him liked him very much. But he had a bad habit. He must eat something sweet, or he would feel unhappy. His mother thought candy(糖果) was bad for his teeth. So his mother often stopped him. One day, little Robert asked his mother for two cents(美分). His mother was surprised and asked, "What did you do with the two cents I gave you yesterday?"
"I gave it to a poor old woman," he answered.
" You are good boy," said the mother proudly (自豪地). " Now I'll give you two more cents.
But you should let me know what you will buy with the two cents today. "
"I will give it to the poor old woman, too." he answered.
"Why are you so interested in the poor old woman?" the mother asked. "Because she sells candy."
