Everyone sleeps differently. Some people like sleeping on their side, some prefer sleeping on their back, and some like sleeping on their stomach. Here is what you need to know about how your sleeping position affects your health.
On your back
Do you sleep on your back? Sleeping on your back is good for your spine (脊柱).
This position causes little stress on the muscles in your back and neck. Your face won't develop wrinkles (皱纹) and spots as quickly as those who sleep on their side or on their stomach. The only disadvantage is that it worsens snoring (打鼾).
On your side
Do you sleep on your side? You're definitely not the only one. When you sleep on your side, you can develop pain in your arms and legs because you're always lying on one side. Sleeping on your right side is also not good for your digestion (消化). However,sleeping on your side reduces snoring.
On your stomach
We have bad news for people who sleep on their stomach. This position is the least healthy. And it may also cause back issues because your spine has to take on an un-comfortable position. Therefore, you will be less likely to have a good sleep at night. Also, if you often sleep on a full stomach, you'll even suffer from stomach problems. It does reduce snoring, though, so there is that benefit.
