James Baker works as a diver. At the bottom of the sea, he looks for sunken(沉没的)ships. There's probably a lot of treasure (宝藏) on them.
When James dives, he carries an air tank and the air goes through a tube to his mouth. His friends often ask him, "Do you like your work?" "Yes, I do. It's interesting. But it's always dangerous to dive into deep water," he answered. "Why?" "Far down, a diver may get into trouble. The water is heavy and presses hard against him. He begins to feel so wild that he doesn't know what he's doing."
One day, James went down with his friend, Pat in a strange place.
Down, down, down they dived. It took them a long time to get to the bottom. On the bottom, they swam around and found an ancient ship. How excited they were!
It was a lot of fun to look for treasure on the ship. They forgot how long it was.
"It's time to go up now," Pat warned by pointing up. James saw his sign but didn't want to leave immediately. Just then a big black fish was swimming over him.
"Hi, guy!" James tried to greet the fish. He took his air tube out of his mouth and held it out to the fish! Pat saw this, quickly put the tube back into James' mouth and pulled him up. Up, up they went to the top at last. How good the fresh air smelled! Later, Pat said to James angrily, "You nearly killed yourself, Jim!" James laughed aloud as if nothing had happened. "There's nothing to laugh about. It's about life and death," Pat said seriously.
Hearing that, James felt sorry and said, " 87 ."
