Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station became the first railway station built upon the 5G digital (数码的) indoor system after China Mobile Shanghai and Huawei started the network's deployment (部署) there on Monday. The move aims to achieve deep indoor 5G coverage within the whole station by the end of 2019. Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station is one of Asia's biggest traffic centers. It deals with over 60 million passengers every year, with over 330,000 people passing through each day during the Spring Festival.
5G network is not the same as the network we use now. The 5G network promised faster speed, low latency (延缓), when connecting to the network. For example, you can download a 2GB high-definition (高清) film in less than 20 seconds. More importantly, 5G will help us build the Internet of things (IoT). IoT refers to everyday things being connected to the Internet. People can control their things even they are not near the things. On a summer day, you can turn on your air-conditioner before you go home.
5G network in the railway station will help the station become more energetic and smart. The passengers will be able to enjoy watching TV on their phones for free as they wait, and take their train. And they will enjoy the robot service and communicate with robots. 5G will really make the station different and it is sure to change people's life.
