In order to be healthy, you should stay at a healthy weight(体重). So, how do you keep a healthy weight? You need to eat a balanced diet (平衡的饮食). You need to balance your eating with exercise.

What is a balanced diet? A balanced diet includes all the main food groups. These include fruits and vegetables. Grains found in bread, noodles, and rice are also important. You need foods such as milk and cheese. You also need to eat foods that have protein( 蛋白质), such as meat, eggs, fish, and some beans.

Wow, that's a lot of food! How many calories is that? How many should you have in a day? Most teens need at least 2, 000 calories a day. That sounds like a lot. But you are forgetting the other part of the balance. You need to exercise. Exercise burns (燃烧)calories. If you burn off as many calories as you take in, you will stay at the same weight. If you eat more calories than you burn, you will put on weight.

To keep your weight, eat a balanced diet and exercise more. And if it's your birthday, eat a piece of cake. Once in a while, it won't hurt you!
