A lonely elephant walks in the forest trying to make friends. She meets a monkey and asks, "Will you be my friend, monkey?" "You are too big and can not swing (荡秋千) on trees as I do. So I can't be your friend," says the monkey.
The elephant then meets a rabbit and asks her the same question. "You are too big to get into my hole (洞). You can not be my friend," replies the rabbit.
Then the elephant meets a frog and asks again. The frog says, "You are too big and heavy. You cannot jump like me."
The next day, all the animals in the forest are running in fear. The elephant stops a bear and asks what is happening and the bear tells her that a tiger wants to eat all the little animals.
The elephant wants to save all these weak animals. So she goes to the tiger and says, "Please sir, leave my friends alone. Do not eat them!" The tiger doesn't listen and he asks the elephant to mind her own business. The elephant finds there is no other way to solve (解决) the problem, so the elephant kicks the tiger with her strong leg and scares it away.
She then goes back to the other animals and tells them they are safe (安全的) now. After hearing how the elephant saves their lives, the animals all smile and say, "You are just the right size (大小) to be our friend".
