Zhong Nanshan is a famous and beloved doctor in China. He played a huge role in managing the SARS (非典)outbreak in 2003. After that, he was called the "SARS Hero" and became a household (家喻户晓的) name across the country.
Both of Zhong Nanshan's parents were famous doctors in China. He once said, "My father is the person who has influenced me the most." When Zhong Nanshan was a little boy, his father would spend money and time on little mice to do experiments(实验) at home. Since then, the little boy became interested in science and decided to become a doctor like his father.
Zhong Nanshan was also an excellent sportsman when he was young. He won several gold medals for running in the first National Games (全运会) Now he still often plays basketball with his co-workers. That is why he is still in good shape at the age of 86.
As a doctor, Zhong Nanshan takes his job very seriously. He has been a doctor for more than 50 years. He is one of the best in his area. Whenever he is in need, he will answer the call at once. In 2020, he took the train to Wuhan without thinking twice to fight the COVID-19. He once again helped Chinese regain confidence to defeat(战胜)this great difficulty.
