Cheong San-chee was born to a Korean and a Chinese mother. She got her Chinese name from her father, who loves Chinese culture. "Chee" was a compliment for girls in times.
As a big fan of Confucianism (儒家思想), her father would share ideas of Confucius in daily life. If she had trouble her homework when she was a child, her father would say to her, " you don't have to finish your homework, you must be honest."
"The older I get, the more I think my father's words are true. Chinese culture seems to be very far away from us, but it is reflected in our life," Cheong said.
Cheong thinks many South Korean people also like to learn Chinese and make Chinese friends. Now the visa (签证) process is open again, more people from China and South Korea have to chance to offline.
