Maddie lived with her father and her little brother Will in a small house. Maddie's father lost his job, the family lived a poor life. All the family had to be careful about spending money.
Winter was coming, and Will was too big for his old winter coat. Maddie would like (buy) a new one for him but she didn't have enough money. When she worried about what to do, she heard some good things about group called Coats for Kids. The group could give a coat to people in need. More (lucky), the group had to do Maddie's school. Some volunteers (志愿者) from the group were working at Maddie's school. This made Maddie feel happy.
After school, Maddie found that Hector, the student in charge of (负责) Coats for Kids was busy (put) some coats on the shelf. So she ran to help him. "Could my brother use a warm coat?"Maddie asked.
Hector answered, "Sure. That's we're here."Then Hector and Maddie found a nice coat. It was green, Will's favorite color."My brother (be) happy to have this nice coat,"Maddie thought. As Maddie turned to leave, she stopped and asked,"Do you need another volunteer?"
"We always need new volunteers,"Hector smiled and said. "Welcome to (we) group, Maddie!" Suddenly Maddie felt her life has (mean).
