Why is World Cup 2022 in winter?卡塔尔世界杯为什么在冬天举办？

The FIFA World Cup 2022 is held in Qatar(卡塔尔)this year. Qatar is in Middle East (中东). It is a small country. The whole country is smaller than Beijing.

We usually watch the World Cup games in summer. Why is it played in winter this year? Because Qatar is too hot in summer! A big part of the country is desert(沙漠). In summer, the temperature there could reach up to 50 degrees(度). When winter comes, the temperature drops (下降) to around 20-30 degrees. That's much better for outdoor sports. Qatar also installed air-conditioning(安装空调)in the soccer fields for players and fans to feel cooler.
