The Chang'e-5 robotic lunar mission(任务)ended successfully early Thursday morning with its load of rocks and dust from the moon landing on the grasslands in northern China.
The China National Space Administration(中国国家航天局) said that Chang'e-5's reentry capsule(返回舱) touched down on its preset landing site (预定区域)in Siziwang banner of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region (内蒙古四子王旗)at 1:59 am.
Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday congratulated (祝贺)the complete success of the Chang'e-5 mission that brings back the country's first samples collected from the moon.
Xi said the Chang'e-5 mission has achieved the extraterrestrial sampling and returning(地外天体采样返回)for the first time. It is another major achievement in overcoming difficulties by giving full play to(充分发挥)the advantages of the new nationwide system, marking a great step forward in China's space industry. This will contribute to deepening the understanding of the origin of the moon and the evolution(进化)history of the solar system, he noted.
"Your remarkable achievement will always be remembered by our country and people, " said Xi. Noting that there is no end for space exploration, he expressed the hope that those who have participated in the Chang'e-5 mission will carry forward the lunar exploration spirit of pursuing dreams, daring to explore, cooperating in tackling(处理)difficulties and win-win cooperation.
