Liam Hannon was 10 when he started handing out free lunches to people who were poor. He and his family made 20 sandwiches, put them in brown bags, added a bottle of water and a granola bar (麦片条),and gave them away.

Liam is now 14 and his program (项目) is still going strong. With help from friends and other people, he hands out 75 to 100 lunches three times a month. We asked Liam to tell us about it.

    How did you get started?

Four summers ago, I didn't want to go to camp. My dad said, "You can't stay home doing nothing." So I did an online treasure-hunt program (寻宝项目) which needs you to do community (社区) activities to get prizes.

The first week, I was asked to help people who were homeless. I said, "Dad, there are people right outside our building who don't have food to eat. Why don't we make them lunch?"

We made sandwiches and went out with our wagon (推车). The lunches went very quickly.

What's the most meaningful thing about what you do?

"I'd say meeting the homeless people. They're people who just need a little kindness in their lives. "

"Do something you enjoy. Then you'll be happier to help. And get your friends and family to do it with you. I invite friends to help with lunches, and almost every time, they've come and given out lunches with me and my dad. "
