The start of a year is often the (最好) time to make plans. We hope that we are going to make some important changes so that we can live a better life (在…期间) the next year.
Almost (每个人) makes plans at the beginning of the year. Some people may make (几个,若干) promises about keeping fit. or example, David works in a big company and he usually goes to work by (地铁). This year, he promises that he (骑) a bike to work and he is going to find more time to do exercise.
As for students, at the beginning of a new (学期), you may make promises and write them down on a piece of paper. For example, you may want to be more (仔细的) with your homework to make fewer mistakes, or you may want to spend two hours reading English stories every week to improve your English (水平).
All in all, people make plans because they are looking forward to the new year and these plans (展示) their greatest wishes for the future.
