As evening sets in, Chung Chia-ming arrives at the night market of Nan'an district in Southwest China's Chongqing, parks his car on the roadside, unlocks the colorful car trunk(后备箱) and sets up his movable lemon tea stall(地摊).
Chung comes from Macao and he runs the tea stall with his girlfriend, where they also sell Hong Kong and Macao snacks. He said that he once sold more than 200 cups of lemon tea in a single evening. "The number of customers has increased surprisingly since the Chinese Lunar New Year, "Chung said.
"The car trunk shop is a special part of our night market, providing a fast and good service for the customers, "said Xiong Yingdong, the manager of the night market. There are over 10, 000 customers every night during the weekdays, and on weekends, about 30, 000.
Nearly 30 percent of the marketers run their stalls as part-time jobs and Peng Jing is one among them. She works for a travel clothes shop during the day and sells Southeast Asian food at the market at night. " It is hard work but I can make more money. ________, " said Peng.
"The night market has brought joy and fun to the customers and at the same time built the confidence(信心) for the marketers. It gives more job chances. And it is becoming more popular among young people to visit the night market, "said Xiong Yingdong.
Chongqing's Nan'an district has been trying best to encourage the growing in the cultural and tourism industry, and this popular night market has filled new power into the city.
