Welcome to Guide Dogs Training Center, boys and girls! Dogs, as good friends of humans, often help us.

Most guide dogs are Labrador and Golden Retriever. Trained guide dogs can lead blind people to anywhere they want to go.

In 1918, a doctor and his pet dog walked with a soldier. (士兵) The soldier was blind. The doctor went into the hospital for a short time. With his pet dog's help, the soldier could go safely on the other side of the hospital yard. So he taught the dog to guide a person and it worked out well! Germany helped start a program to teach dogs to be guides.

Lora, an American woman, went to Germany to find out the program of teaching dogs to be guide dogs.  Soon more people knew about the helpful guide dogs.

It takes more than two years to train a little dog to be a guide dog.
