One summer, Cao Cao was leading his soldiers(士兵) to fight with Zhang Xiu. The weather pretty hot. The soldiers were walking in the mountain. The soldiers were tired by noon, the horses also slowed down.
Seeing that the speed was slower and slower, Cao Cao was worried that he would miss the chance of winning. But could they walk faster? Cao Cao called the guide and asked him if there was some water nearby. The guide shook head, and said that the spring water was on other side of the mountain, which was very far to reach. After thinking for a moment, he had good idea quickly. Pointing at the front, Cao Cao said loudly, "Soldiers, I know there is a big forest with plums(梅子) ahead. The plums there are both big and delicious. Let's hurry , and we will reach the forest of plums passing this hill. " Imagining the sweet and sour taste of the plums in their minds, the soldiers felt like they were eating the plums. Then they quickened(加快) their steps.
We can learn this story that if we can't see hope and have no goal, we will lose confidence.
