When Vicky Harmiston was a child, her parents asked her and her brother Jamie to decide what they did in their spare time. Vicky chose to go swimming. She was a good swimmer, and the teacher at the swimming club she went to thought she would have a bright future. But the club was a long way from her home. Jamie loved cycling (骑自行车)and bought himself a special racing bike and started taking part in competitions. Vicky thought it looked very exciting and decided to try it for herself. She says that was the best decision she ever made. Soon she was cycling every day and doing really well. The training ground was near her school,so it was no problem for her to get training after school every day.
Vicky was in cycling and won a lot of competitions. When she was 28,she thought she was old enough and stopped competitive cycling.
After that,Vicky got a job at a charity(慈善机构)called CycleZone. "We work with young people who have never enjoyed sports"she says. "The first thing we do is to teach them to ride a bike. We want them to learn to believe in themselves. Cycle Zone does a great job, and it gets young people together"
