Cousteau had seen places in the middle of the sea that no one had seen before. The sevoyages（航行）made Cousteau worried about sea life.Sea creatures'（生物）lives were in danger. He saw that pollution from factories had killed fish and plants. Cousteau then thought of a way to show people what was happening in the sea. He wanted to make films about the sea.
So Cousteau changed a ship into a travelling boat where he made films. But they weren't helpful to solve the problem. Factories didn't stop polluting. They felt it would cost too much money to stop.
Cousteau then started a group to save the sea and he also showed many wild places in his films. He called for people to help protect the sea. When he found that the problems could be solved by new laws, he called the government for help. Soon new laws were made to protect sea animals and plants.
For nine years, Cousteau had a TV show. It showed what life was like underwater. The show gave people such a wonderful underwater landscape （景观） that people were amazed.
In his lifetime, Cousteau wrote over fifty books. For forty years, he and his team had studied life under the sea. Thanks to what they have done for the sea, the environment in the sea has caught many people's attention and been greatly improved.
