Mary was an ordinary-looking Australian girl. She lived with her parents, but too1 care was given to her dull factory-worker dad and her smoking mum. She had no friends in real life so she had to find a pen pal. She then wrote to a random New Yorker, Max, who was a lonely 44-years-old man. Max was overweight and was2 anxiety. Mary' s letter completely changed Max' s life. 3 Max hesitated about whether to write back, he made a response to Mary with a bar of chocolate eventually. And this was the beginning of their 20-years correspondence and deep friendship.
The above is part of this story of the animated film Mary and Max. The director of the movie, Adam Elliot, created it with cute claymation(黏土动画). The movie tells about a story of friendship.
Mary and Max were each others' only friend, which made their friendship even more precious. In most other films, friendship can 4 do anything, from saving the earth to removing every obstacle in one' s life. But it is not the same case in this film. Mary and Max' s road to friendship wasn' t filled with easy answers. Max was never able to lose weight, and Mary never really5 the shadow of her parents.
But most important, Mary and Max had each other, who knew and loved each other better than anybody else did. This is what a friend does: We know we are 6 , but we still love each other from the bottom of our heart.
