James was only weak in English, so his mother sent him to the English class. James got good grades for his fine memory. If he heard any passage once, he could read and put it into Chinese. However, he couldn't make his own sentences (句子). And his face usually turned red when his teacher wanted him to answer.
A few months later, James had to pass a test. He couldn't retell the novel with his own words so he had to remember the whole book. At last he told his teacher 10 pages of the book. When the teacher understood what was happening, she stopped James and said, "You have a fine memory, but it's much easier to speak English." And she gave James a good grade.
That day on his way home, James met a visitor. The visitor lost his way and wanted to find his hotel. James spoke to the visitor and helped the man find his hotel. That was how James found the secret to speak English — just speaking English without thinking about making mistakes. It was one of the happiest days in his life.
