Alice Andrews is very worried(担心的) about her son, John. He is often unhappy.
One morning she walks into his room, turns on the light, and says, " It' s time to get up, John. You can' t stay in bed all day. "
John turns over in bed. He does not want to get up. He turns off the light.
" Don' t go to sleep again, " Alice says. " Get up now or you' ll be late again for school. " She turns the light on again.
Fifteen minutes later John comes into the kitchen and sits down at the table. " Eat your breakfast quickly, " Alice says. " It' s almost eight thirty. "
" There' s no hurry, " John tells his mother. " I' m not going to school today. " " Why not? " his mother asks. " Is it a holiday? "
John shakes his head. " No, it' s not a holiday. " Alice sits down next to her son and takes his hand.
" John, " she says, " Tell me what' s wrong. Why do you hate school so much? "
For several moments John is quiet. Then he says, " The teachers bully(欺负) me and the students don' t like me. "
" John, " his mother says, " I' m sorry about that, but you cannot stay at home. " " Why not? " he asks.
" Because, dear, " his mother says, " there are two very good reasons why you must go to school. First, you are thirty-five years old. Second, you are the school principal(校长). "
