It was a mid-August evening. Some children sat in a big yard(庭院) in a small village in Guizhou. A 73-year-old man with glasses taught these children English.
The old man is Liu Xiaosheng, a retired(退休的) teacher in Chongqing. In 2012, he came to Guizhou for summer vacation. One evening,他听见一个孩子正在读英语。He found the child couldn't read it well. As a teacher, he knew it was important to learn a language well, so he started to help the child.
Soon more and more people in the village knew that a retired teacher taught students English for free. More children came. At first, Liu taught in his living room, and then he set up(开设) a classroom in the corridor (过道). Because the number of students grew, Liu set up the classroom in a villager's house.
Every summer, Liu comes to the village to teach English. Liu是如此优秀以至于村民们都很喜欢他。Liu also feels happy to teach in the village.
