Mr. Brown's store has some puppies for sale from $30 to $50. A little boy comes to his store and says, " Sir, I want to buy one of your puppies. "
" Well, " says Mr. Brown, " these puppies need a lot of money. "
" I have only one dollar. Can I just take a look? " asks the boy.
" OK. " says Mr. Brown. Then he calls the dogs over. Four little balls of fur run from the doghouse. Then the boy sees the fifth little fur ball come slowly(慢慢地) from the doghouse and it is smaller. It is walking strangely(怪异地). " I want that one" , the little boy looks at the smaller puppy and says.
" Son, you don't want that puppy. He can't run and play with you like these other dogs. " says Mr. Brown.
Then the little boy rolls up(卷起) one leg of his trousers. His leg has a steel brace(钢支架) on it. Looking back up at Mr. Brown, he says, " You see, I don't run well myself and he will need someone who understands(理解). "
" How much is it? " asks the little boy.
" Just take it, " answers Mr. Brown, " There's no charge for love and understanding. "
