Spain is famous for its tomato festival, La Tomatina. There are all kinds of activities during the festival, but among them the mostpart is the tomato fight. People are encouraged to throw tomatoes in the fight. Now there are many stories about this traditional festival began. One of the stories goes that in the 1940s, some friendsa tomato fight,another story is about a local band. Anyway, everyone in Bunol seems to have astory.
Before the tomato fight, there are parades (游行), shows, street parties and so on.
On the day of the fight, many shopkeepers will have one day off in orderaway from the tomato fight. Thousands ofand local people come to the town square together. Then the trucks full of tomatoes arrive. From the back of a truck, a group of people start to throw tomatoes at others. Then other people fight back,tomatoes at anything and anyone. Soon the streets are in the sea of red tomato juice.
Everyone must follow one rule — you must squash ( 压 烂 ) the tomato before throwing it and you are allowed to throwbut tomatoes.
