It's the day before Thanksgiving Day. David wants to give a card to everyone in his class.
"Oh, no. I can't1 the name list* in my schoolbag. I can't give cards to all my classmates now." David is2 .
"I'll help you remember all the3 ,"Mum takes out some paper from a book. "How many children are there in your class?"
"Fifteen," says David. Mum numbers one to fifteen. "Who do you have lunch with?"
David4 the names in his mind*."Hmm... Brian, Todd and John."
"Who takes the bus with you?"
"Angie, Jill, Brad and Mark."
"That makes5 ,"she writes them down. "Who sits at the front in your classroom?"
David tells6 his classmates sit. "Sheila, Beth, and Amy sit in the first. Chris, Travis, Mallory and Joey in the second."
"OK. We're up to fourteen names now," says Mum.
"There's still one name." David tries to7 .
"Why not write down your thanks to the fourteen first?" Mum says. "Maybe the last name will come to you when you're writing."
David writes a8 and puts it in the envelope*. Then he writes a name on the envelope.
He does this fourteen times. Suddenly he knows. "It's9 !"
David writes his name carefully on the last envelope. "It will be a10 Thanksgiving Day."
