The coldest temperature during the winter was-27. 2℃ in the UK. The temperature was recorded twice in the village of Braemar in1895 and again in 1982, and once in Altnaharra in 1995.
The winter of 1963
The winter of 1963 is one of the coldest in record. Temperatures reached lower than-20℃ with blizzard and snowdrifts (暴风雪和吹积雪). The severe cold (严寒) started several days before Christmas in 1962. On December 29th and 30th, a blizzard hit the UK. Snow kept falling until early in March, 1963, and much of the UK was covered with snow.
