I used to be very shy. When I was in Grade 7, our Chinese teacher asked all of the students in our class to give a speech at the beginning of our Chinese lesson. When we got this assignment (作业), I felt a little afraid.
"What should I do?" I thought.
The day to give our speeches finally arrived. Although I had all the materials I needed, I was still worried about whether I would be a good speaker. At that moment, my friend Christina came over and told me to relax. She said she was sure that I could give an excellent speech. This made me feel a lot better.
Finally, it was my turn. I took a deep breath and began my speech. But I forgot the first sentence. I was so sad. Then, I saw Christina's eyes. I found she was smiling at me. I remembered what she said and felt more confident. Everyone, including Christina, thought my speech was great and I was proud of myself.
Sometimes, one simple encouragement can mean a lot to others. So try to encourage others and then all of us will feel happy.
