Cathy and Candy are twins. Even their parents find it hard to tell the difference between them. Although they look the same, the girls are different in most other ways. They don't have many things in common. Candy likes spicy foods, while Cathy prefers sweet foods. Candy likes to study at night, while Cathy prefers the morning. Candy likes playing sports, but Cathy just like reading books in her free time.
They often fight with each other about these things. For example, when Candy says that waking up early in the morning is terrible, Cathy argues, "Mornings are fresh. It is difficult to stay up late in the day when you feel sleepy!"
Their parents thought they shouldn't always argue with each other and decided to put an end to their arguments(争论) and teach them that they can both be right. They got an idea.
Their father asked Candy to stand on one side of a board, while Cathy stood on the other side. They couldn't see each other's sides. Their mother asked, "What color is the board?" Candy said it was black, while Cathy said it was white. They started arguing again. Then, their parents asked them to switch.
They were both quite surprised. Candy's side had been painted black and Cathy's had been painted white. Both of them were correct.
Many of us are like Candy and Cathy. We may insist(坚持) that we are right most of the time, only to find out that others can be right as well.
