When you travel abroad, you can see that the customs there aren't always the same as yours. So before you go, it's a good idea to find out something about the local customs and culture of the country you're visiting.
The British are generally helpful and friendly but there are some things you should remember.
At bus stops, cinemas and shops, the British usually stand in queues. You mustn't jump the queue. Instead, you should stand in the queue and wait your turn like everyone else.
British people are usually polite and say "please" or "thank you" a lot. When you're hungry, for example, you shouldn't say "I want a sandwich". You should say "Can I have a sandwich, please?" When someone says "Thank you", you ought to reply "You're welcome", instead of keeping silent.
When people say something you don't understand, you should say "Sony?" or "Pardon?". Then ask them to say it again or more slowly. Don't say "What?" or a What are you saying?", as it is rude to say so.
In some countries, people often kiss each other on the cheek when they meet. In Britain, you should only do this with your close friends or relatives. In other situations, you should shake hands with the person.
Finally, the British drive on the left. Always look to the right first, then to the left before you cross a road.
